Nothing less than the experience that is called home

We have completed nine months of work on the building site: at the end of October 2020, the Sudetendeutsches Museum in Munich is now opening its doors to pre-registered groups for the first time. The impressive new building, featuring a sandstone facade, on the Isarhochufer is home to the permanent exhibition and offers nearly 1000 square metres of space spread out over five floors.

Winkels Interior won the public tender by the Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Familie, Arbeit und Soziales in the working group with Dr. Ulrich Hermanns Ausstellung Medien Transfer GmbH and 235 Media GmbH and is responsible for the complete interior decoration concept. The history, culture and economy of the Sudeten Germans is presented in the form of exhibits, documents and image material on various presentation levels. Since the building does not have any right angles, visitors will be guided through the exhibition zigzagways using guide lines. An innovative tactile guiding system facilitates accessibility for all visitors.
